Jesus in Turkey

Two Turkish friends who are Christians sent me an email with these links about what is going on in their country at the moment - they are published on a Christian website - so, of course, they come from that perspective. But I provide for interests sake anyway. Turkey is currently 98% Muslim (I think?) but also has a fascinating connection with Christianity as many of the early churches were in that country.

I thought this post was about Jesus appearing on a Thanksgiving bird, Kinda like the Virgin Mary appearing on toast (always with food in the head).

One of the most important churches in Greek Orthodox history is in Istanbul. It is called Saint Sophia Church. Because Istanbul used to be Constantinople, the patriarch of the GO Church still resides there and actually has to put in a visa request to the Turkish goverment whenever he wishes to visit Greece or leave the country. yet, the Greek Orthodox Church refuses to move their patriarch's position from that sacred church. Just thought that was a bit of interesting history to share. : )
