This is me and my work colleague Edward next to the snow man that me and three other workmates created yesterday lunchtime. It was part of a competition with some colleagues who work in another building. Those are my red gloves and the snow man is wearing Edward's cap.
There is some argument as to who actually won the competition . I would have included the video of the opposition here which is quite funny - but I wasn't sure how. The snow didn't delay me too much in getting to work in the morning- but I live near central London - so it was fairly easy to get in really.
Now last night's snowfall in London is melting. I loved slipping and sliding through the lovely powdery snow on my way to the tube station with my housemate - even if I did end up being late for work.
I hope it snows again.
The last few days have been a bit crap emotionally. My housemates have been lovely and supportive - but I feel bad for even talking about it.
...as the Jimmy Cliff song goes.
Had a great time meeting the LoVOX crew(London VOX bloggers meeting). I didn't have a problem finding the venue, in the shadow of St Paul's Cathedral as my friend Steve had his 40th birthday celebrations there last year (or was it the year before?)
Quickly scoffed a spinach and avocado salad sarnie from Marks and Sparks before going into the bar - during the day I felt a bit apprehensive about the gathering - then a bit nervous before hand and thought about running away.
Once inside I had a quick word with CupCate (who capably organised the event) I started looking around and think I just bumped into Professor of Buffy-ology Liz - then later we spotted digital diva DeVaney (Ms Lisa that is) and she joined us for a chat about diverse subjects including:
Dr Who (Is Christopher Eccleston better than David Tennant in the role?), new adult sci-fi fantasy drama spin off Torchwood (personally leaves me a bit cold, though Captain Jack is nice eye candy), jobs and careers, the fact that all our names begin with 'Li' and the various differences between UK, USA and New Zealand.
Also met Bookmole and chatted about books (unsurprisingly!)
What I found interesting is that, apart from CupCate, I hadn't read anyone else's blog so no preconceived ideas about anyone I met or what they would be like or anything. It's been interesting to read everyone's blogs today and see what we are all projecting to the world about ourselves through our blogs.
Also managing to look pretty in pink at the office today with one of the 3 free VOX tees I swiped (brownie points for VOX cos they are made by sweatshop free American Apparel - nice one guys), along with many other promotional goodies. That's Chrissy presents sorted then. Also got snacks free of charge as well. Lovely.
Went clubbing for the first time ever in one of the big London clubs - The Cross - with the 24-7 prayer clubbing guys here in London. I've been to smaller bars and clubs - but not to a really large one where you get body searched (bizarrely my friend sarah had to hand in her piece of chocolate birthday cake (perhaps they thought it was a special kind of homebake -ha ha).
I have a croaky voice and cigarette burn next to my left eye to show for it! Great experience and great music though. The experience is still sinking in a bit. The team (and a couple of extras) had a community dinner together beforehand (thanks Brucie for the warming Thai fish curry which got me ready to rock n roll). From 2-4am we danced to some hard house - Seb Fontaine was the DJ. Nice to touch base with friends after being below the radar for various reasons (illness, new job, house move) over the past few months.
Got home at 6am - then woke up around 12 to head off to City Gates Church and New River Church combined carol service at Westminster Methodist Central Hall, just across the road from Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. I was singing angelically in my friend's gospel choir with this dirty great fag burn on my face from last night's hardcore clubbing.
What an odd mixture of sacred and profane.
My voice packed up on Monday, cos of this nasty tiring, bone aching cold that I've had lurking about all week long, so had to take the day off from work - sat in front of the telly watching Headland (addictive new Aussie daytime soap) and writing up administration manual for work.
Do you keep a journal or diary? How often do you write in it?

Yes I do Julia Cameron's suggested morning pages - 3 pages a day. It really works in helping clear the brain and promoting creative thinking! Helps me to vent some of those negative emotions in a more appropriate way - find I generally come across now as more optimistic and clear thinking. The whole world should be journaling!
